Best Relationship Advice, They Asked…

We’ve all been there, the novels, movies didn’t help either with the fantasies of girl meets boy in the school corridor, bumps into the other, both bend/ squat to pick the book or papers up and eyes lock in slow-motion, the butterflies, fights then a happily ever after….or so we thought!

Enter 21st century relationships! I still insist that Cupid’s arrows have a target market, that not everyone is built to experience love, in the romantic sense however let’s not get pessimistic there here are some of the lessons or advice that I have found to be valuable:

1. You won’t find yourself in another person!

Relationships are not places for the broken running from themselves, surely you are bound to amass more. Deal with your demons, stitch your wounds, heal your mind.

Your person deserves to meet a better version of you not to be turned into a Bob-the-builer, psychiatrist etc.

2. Consistency, effort and mutuality or nothing. A relationship is like a business contract, do not sacrifice yourself at the alter of crumbs. Both of you should want and continually work at it. One sided things aren’t worth it.

3. It is okay to walk away. Relationships end and that is part of life. Longevity doesn’t necessarily mean a relationship is healthy.

If it is not working, don’t burn years trying to breath life into dead stuff.
